
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor for our North Operations. This is one of the top Manitoba Supervisor Jobs available in the region, critical to ensuring the success of our logging operations in the northern region. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader, capable of supervising a team of about a dozen workers, while also maintaining clear communication with both our clients and company management.
Key Responsibilities:
– Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the activities of a team of logging workers, ensuring they meet productivity and safety standards.
– Client Communication: Act as the primary point of contact with our clients in the northern region, managing small-scale communications to ensure their requirements are met.
– Management Liaison: Maintain regular communication with the company’s management, reporting on operations, challenges, and progress.
– Equipment Operation: Operate heavy logging equipment, including skidders, harvesters, and loaders, as needed to support the team and ensure efficient operations.
– Training and Mentorship: Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to workers, fostering a safe and efficient working environment.
– Problem-Solving: Quickly and effectively address any issues that arise on-site, from equipment breakdowns to workforce challenges.
– Safety Oversight: Ensure all operations comply with safety regulations and company policies, conducting regular safety meetings and inspections.
– Scheduling and Planning: Assist in planning daily operations and work schedules, ensuring that deadlines are met and resources are allocated effectively.
– Resource Management: Oversee the use and maintenance of equipment, tools, and supplies to ensure operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills:
– Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the logging industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
– Equipment Proficiency: Skilled operator of heavy logging equipment, with hands-on experience in skidders, harvesters, loaders, and other logging machinery.
– Leadership Abilities: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team in a demanding work environment.
– Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with workers, clients, and management.
– Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think on your feet and make decisions under pressure.
– Safety Awareness: Deep understanding of safety regulations and best practices in the logging industry.
– Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and planning abilities, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
– Flexibility: Willingness to work extended hours and travel as required by the demands of the northern operations.
Additional Requirements:
– Driver’s License: Valid Class 5 driver’s license; a Class 1 or 3 license would be an asset.
– Certification: Any relevant certifications in heavy equipment operation, forestry, or safety would be advantageous.
– Physical Stamina: Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including outdoor work in varying weather.
