We are seeking a skilled and experienced Truck and Trailer Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing our fleet of trucks and trailers to ensure they operate safely and efficiently in the demanding conditions of the logging industry. Key Responsibilities:

– Routine Maintenance: Perform regular inspections, maintenance, and servicing of trucks and trailers to prevent breakdowns.

– Diagnostic and Repair: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment, and carry out necessary repairs.

– Brake Systems: Inspect, repair, and adjust braking systems on trucks and trailers.

– Suspension and Steering: Repair and maintain suspension and steering systems to ensure proper vehicle handling.

– Engine and Transmission Work: Conduct repairs and maintenance on diesel engines, transmissions, and related components.

– Safety Inspections: Conduct safety inspections in compliance with provincial and federal regulations.

– Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including parts used and hours worked.

– Emergency Repairs: Respond to breakdowns and perform on-site repairs as needed.

– Collaboration: Work closely with drivers and operations staff to identify and resolve vehicle issues.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

– Certification: Journeyman certification as a Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic or Truck and Transport Mechanic.

– Experience: Experience working as a truck and trailer mechanic, preferably in the logging or heavy-duty industry.

– Mechanical Skills: Strong knowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.

– Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical issues quickly and efficiently.

– Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy parts and work in physically demanding conditions, including outdoor work in varying weather.

– Driver’s License: Valid Class 5 driver’s license; a Class 1 or 3 license would be an asset.

– Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in performing repairs and documenting work.

– Work Ethic: Strong commitment to safety, quality, and reliability in all work performed.

– Flexibility: Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and be on-call for emergencies as needed.

 

Additional Requirements:

– Tools: Must have a personal set of mechanic’s tools suitable for heavy-duty work.

– References: Provide references from previous employers attesting to your skills and reliability.

– Safety Certifications: Possession of relevant safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, First Aid) is an asset.

Compensation:

– Wages: Competitive wages commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Pay: $40,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
